We Got The Runs

How do you like the title of this post? The title of this post happens to be the name of our upcoming kickball team! My sister Sydney and I put together a team including us (our husbands of course) our friends Dayne and Elizabeth, Jenica and Tyler, and my little sis Chels and one of her friends. We practiced a week ago last Saturday at a park. Some players were surprisingly really good (I'm talking about no fear Elizabeth!) and some of us were not so good... Yes, I'm talking about myself. No joke, I used to be very brave and fearless and competitive, which I still am competitive, I just don't have the skills to back it up anymore! What happened? Somewhere in between right before I had a baby and now I've become a whimp. I was scared to catch the kickballs! I've also become significantly slower at running around the bases. I was sincerely disappointed in myself during our practice and hopefully by next practice I'll toughen up! Our kickball tournament isn't until the end of July, so I have some time.
Last Saturday my family went boating for the first time this year at Utah Lake. What. A. Blast!! Marc frequently asks me, "What would you be doing right now if you could do anything in the world?" My response will ALWAYS be, tubing at Lake Powell. Since Lake Powell is 5 1/2 hours away tubing at Utah Lake is almost the next best thing. I love tubing and I love tubing with my family. We always end up screaming like children and saying weird random things. Cannon enjoyed the boat and even went swimming in the cold water with Marc. He looked so funny with his squished cheeks in his life jacket and he hardly moved while he had it on... for some reason we think that he thought he couldn't move. For example, we put a cheeto in his hand and he wouldn't reach up to put it in his mouth (although he was perfectly able). He was great on the boat which made me excited because hopefully that means he'll be good when we go to Lake Powell next month. I absolutely can't wait to go to Powell. Last year was the first year, probably my whole life, that I didn't go to Powell. I didn't go because Cannon was born one week later! We're renting a houseboat this year, so that will be awesome.
After boating Sydney had us over at her house to celebrate her 21st birthday and have a BBQ. We also played volleyball with Casey's family and had a blast. I may have scared a few of them with my vocal competitiveness and once I accidentally kicked the volleyball and it went way high up in the air and over the neighbors fence.... whoops! We had so much fun on Saturday, by that night Me, Marc and Cannon were exhausted! And on top of that during the week I took Cannon to Seven Peaks, went swimming with the kids I nanny, went on a walk to the park, did lots and lots of shopping and had a busy week. Most days I feel like I need a nap, but have way too many things to do instead!
Told you his face was squished!

Right after Cannon's first haircut... I took a before and after pic and you can't even tell the difference!

Happy Dad's Day!!

I just got done writing in the cards I'm going to be giving to the three dads in my life and it reminded me how blessed I am to have such great dads (and a husband) in my life! First off, I'll forever call my dad daddy. He is such a caring, supportive, loving, creative, and sometimes nutty dad! I know that he loves my mom and my siblings and I very much. I can remember multiple times throughout my life were he made me feel important and told me that he loved me. I'll never forget the time I was crying over a boy or something stupid and he said to me, "Well it's not like you're ugly or anything!" (To me this comment was telling me that my dad thought I was beautiful, and I'll never forget it!) One time when I was young I drew a picture for my dad of a fish (because he loves fishing) and for some reason he got mad at me so I ripped the picture into large pieces and set it on the top of the garbage so that he could see it. Haha, the next day he took me fishing and said he was sorry! I'll never forget the drive that he took me on when I was in college and being a selfish little brat (coming home extremely late at night and just having a bad attitude) and he told me that he loved me no matter what, but that I needed to stop being such a brat and grow up (He didn't say it exactly like that, but that's what he meant.) I seriously changed my attitude quickly after! I remember feeling very special and like my dad was very proud of me the day that he baptized me and also on my wedding day. When I was younger he would take just me out on little trips with him. One time we went camping and ate gross just-add-water food and another time he woke me up early in the morning to tell me he was taking me to Los Angeles with him for the day. He was working on a project for Larry King's house and I got to meet him and his wife! At the time I had no idea who Larry King was and I told him that all I thought was that he was an old ugly looking man! haha. He has always made me feel special and loved and now I love watching him love Cannon so much! He lights up and does a funny little laugh (that he has no idea he does) every time he holds Cannon. It's so sweet and so funny! I love my Daddy and feel so blessed to have him in my life!
I also have a great father-in-law. I swear that he is thinking about his three kids 24 hours of the day and not himself! He would sacrifice anything for his children and sometimes we have to tease him because he loves his children so much that he is the biggest worrywart I know. He has a strong testimony and knows that families and the gospel are what is most important in life. He has always been so welcoming and accepting of me and I'm so grateful for that!
Next is the dad who is the love of my life! Since Cannon was born I've been able to get a taste of the kind of dad Marc is going to be. He of course is fun and entertaining, but not only that, he is very protective over Cannon and always wants to make sure Cannon is happy. As soon as we put Cannon to bed he checks on him probably at least twice before we go to sleep and then a lot of the times he starts looking at pictures of Cannon on his phone right before bed. haha. He thinks everything Cannon does is pretty much the most amazing, most triumphant feat in the world! He didn't know that he did this until quite recently, but every time he's with Cannon he'll sing/chant to him everything thing he's doing. For example he'll chant "Gettin in the bathtub, Gettin in the bathtub," "Changing your diaper, Changing your diaper..." the list would go on and on. It's hilarious. He constantly shows me and tells me that he loves me. I tell him that he probably can easily get sick of me (although he assures me that he does not) but I told him that I literally want to be with him all of the time (does that sound creepy?). I love being with Marc. He always makes me happy. And one of the biggest reasons why I love him most is a very selfish reason. It's because I know that he loves me despite my nagging, sometimes negative, overly dramatic attitude. I am so lucky and everyday so grateful to have him as my husband and Cannon's daddy. I am one lucky girl to have such great Dad's in my life! Happy Dad's Day! (One day late.... I did start this two days ago though....)

Fun in the sun

I think we've already been having too much fun since we've had warm weather. Marc and I are making a list of all the things we want and have to do this summer! Some of the plans include; camping, playing lots of tennis, Seven Peaks, Lake Powell, family reunion, hopefully lots and lots of boating, and spending lots of time together a family. We'll see how many of these we do! Here are some picture updates on the fun we've been having so far.

Our hike to Stewart Falls. Yes, those are pink pants that Cannon is wearing. I packed for a hot/in the sun hike and it turned out to be quite chilly and cold! Luckily Rhonda and Jordan came with and cousin Ellie had some extra pink pants for Cannon to wear!

It was a beautiful hike as most of you probably know!

Cannon had surprisingly fallen asleep in his uncomfortable carrier right before these pictures... He looks a little grumpy!

We didn't stay at the falls for long because it was cold and Cannon was tired. On the way back Cannon was crying in his carrier so Marc held him almost the whole hike back and he's a heavy little boy! Poor baby was frozen by the time we got back to the car... One of those times I felt like a bad mom!

Monkey lovin!

Hey, that's my camera Cannon!

At a family friend's reception up Provo Canyon

My boys!!

We went to Seven Peaks with Dave and Deborah and Dayne and Elizabeth. Here's a picture of sleepy Colton and Deborah.

Dayne, Elizabeth and Kaiya

Cannon LOVED walking back and forth through this water sprayer. He literally had no fear!

We had to squish his water hat over his helmet haha

For Memorial Day we went to Nelson's park and had a BBQ

Shopping a City Creek in Salt Lake. Cannon love pushing around his stroller instead of sitting in it.

Cannon loved the water fountains

So long Jenny!

So big news, Marc no longer works for Jenny Craig! For those of you who don't know Marc has been the Center Director over at Jenny Craig in Provo for the past year. Yes, you heard me right, Jenny Craig. :) But in all honesty Marc's job was such a blessing for our family! I was able to stay at home with Cannon and the benefits were great. Marc randomly found the job on Craig's List and applied, never in a million years thinking he would actually get it. They said they had preferred to have someone running the center with a degree and Marc is quite far from it... Marc was hired quickly after his interview and became the only male employee in Utah! Although Marc loved the women that worked for him, he got very tired of working with mostly all women (I can't even imagine why!). He says we're emotional or something... first time I've every heard that! For the past 6 months he has been working, going to school and studying for the series 66, series 7 and the Health and Life exams. He has passed two of the three and takes the third soon. He will be employed by AXA as a Financial Planner and working for my uncle's Firm called Frandsen and Morrill in Provo. He is starting to train next week and I'm so excited for him. He's very passionate about going into Financial Planning and I hope all goes well! The thing I've always loved and known about Marc is that he is creative, passionate, hard working and determined to be the best. I've never been worried that he will not be successful at whatever he eventually (and finally :) ) decided to do with his career. We'll update on how he is doing! But so long Jenny Craig! You've been good to our little family! Ps... I totally did Jenny Craig while he worked there to lose the baby weight. Just want to brag and I ended up losing 16 pounds whoot whoot!
